The Academy offers Olympic style TKD, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai Kick Boxing as sports for those interested in recreation, physical fitness, and/or competition.
Over the course of the next few years, we developed The Submission Taekwondo Program (STKD). This program incorporates the ground grappling of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, throws and take down from wrestling and judo, stand up fighting skills from boxing, Muay Thai and Taekwondo, and weapons fighting skills from Krav Maga and other arts. We retain the term Taekwondo, because our academy continues to teach the traditional TKD forms (poomse), and we maintain the traditional military discipline and core values of courage, comittment, and honor. We have added the term Submission, because unlike Olympic TKD, we allow the fighter to kick below the belt, punch to the face, clinch, take the opponent to the ground and finish with strikes or submissions from the ground. The techniques we teach and the conditioning that accompanies their application are extremely demanding. The execution of lethal techniques in a chaotic setting is of the utmost importance to survival. We will teach you to make and implement your decisions consistently faster than your opponent, giving you a tremendous and often decisive advantage.
In1993,with the advent of the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and the subsequent rise of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), we quickly realized that the traditional Taekwondo training methods no longer fit the realities of our modern training environments or the modern battle field.
For self-defense, we combine all disciplines with applications across the full spectrum of violence. Our self-defense system is a way of fighting that seeks to shatter the enemy's cohesion through a series of rapid, violent, and unexpected actions which create a turbulent and rapidly deteriorating situation with which he cannot cope.
OUR OBJECTIVES are threefold: to create a self-defense force with an exceptional level of physical fitness, to equip this force with the skills necessary to win their battles and to succeed in everything and anything, and to develop this force into quality citizens who aspire to become heroic leaders..
OUR STRATEGY is to establish clear goals, assign specific tasks, provide skills/assets, and to impose conditions on the use of force for our students. OUR INSTRUCTORS: The BAMA demands professional competence among its Instructors. As Black Belts responsible for the training of human lives, leaders must be experts in the struggle for existence. They must be people of action and intellect who can identify and solve problems by adapting and improvising.
OUR TACTICS focus on the application of force to overcome an enemy at a particular time and place. This can be thought of as the art and science of winning confrontations and battles.
Our Chief Instructor, Master Song (5th Dan) has been training and teaching for more than 30 years.
Our Assistant Instructor, Master Osher, has been training with Master Song since 1997.Master Osher holds the rank of 4th Dan Black Belt in Submission Taekwondo.
